According to Director of Alumni and University Relations Gary Griffin, the Centennial Homecoming was by far the most well-attended in the University's history.
"We've had alumni who have literally traveled halfway around the globe to be here with us this weekend," said Griffin. "It just goes to show that Olivet stays with people long after graduation."
One open door Along painted brick street fronts and sprawled against stretches of sidewalk, young boys make their beds, napping in what has become their pseudo-home. Their lean bodies and ragged clothes depict a small slice of the difficult life they lead.
Finding these Zambian street children a home and sharing the redeeming power of Christ is the subject on the heart of Candace (Leitner) Walker '89 and her husband, Bob, as they work as full-time missionaries in Zambia, Africa, through Heart of the Bride ministries.
Saving grace Redemption is the main storyline in Gail Becker's '02 life — saving grace at its very best.
Growing up in a home with an alcoholic father left its mark, but at a young age, Gail's father died, leaving her mother to care for nine children alone. "My home life was full of fighting and violence. I was a very unhappy, withdrawn and fearful child," remembers Gail.
Adam Ledyard '99 Adam Ledyard was perfectly content in his job as director of communications at First United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake, Ill.
A few years prior, however, Adam answered a call to ministry laid on his heart, and since that day, has steadily offered up a prayer for an opportunity to be involved in his two passions blended together: sports and sharing God's love with others.
