ONU launches Center for Faith and Culture Olivet Nazarene University is pleased to announce the launch of The Center for Faith and Culture through the School of Theology and Christian Ministry.
The work of the Center is to foster theological inquiry and conversation concerning the church's faith and mission in dialogue with an ever-changing culture. These initiatives will be expressed through campus forums and conferences, seminars in local churches and district functions, through articles, books and presentations.
Bringing in the Light It was her senior year at Olivet Nazarene University that Laura Taube '01 knew she felt called to use her elementary education degree in a place where children desperately needed love and attention.
"I felt called to work with the most underprivileged children of Chicago. I felt there was a need for people that care to work with these kids," shares Laura, currently a second grade teacher at Clara Barton Elementary, located in Southside Chicago.
Analyze this "Going to college," David Elwood '55 says, "was merely an accident."
After graduating high school, David did like many boys and began working in a local factory.
Making his case When Bill Swallow '04 thought about his career path upon entering Olivet Nazarene University as a freshman, he had two main interests: engineering and the law.
"I didnt know if I wanted to be an engineer or a lawyer, but I found out engineers have to draw I can't draw so I chose law," he remembers.
Jo Williamson '87 Jo Williamson did not plan for a career in educational technology. "How could I have? I typed my papers on a typewriter when I was at Olivet!" she laughs.
She began her career as a high school English instructor. Over the next 20 years, the driven and ambitious Jo excelled in numerous positions: assistant professor, technology director, program manager and as director of the Instructional Technology and Media Division of the Georgia Department of Education.
