Oprah's challenge
Amanda (LaLuna) Chorak '03 does not make a habit of taking phone calls from strange numbers. But she was riding in the car one day when she felt compelled to answer a call from an unknown number. After a whirlwind conversation that took the expression on her face from shock to utter excitement, she snapped the phone shut.
Crusade against cancer
Jen (Brown) Gibbons '01 remembers well the hallmark moment when pharmacology research became her life's passion.

"Dr. [Larry] Ferren had an Olivet alum come and speak to [our biochemistry class] about his research," she recalls. "He was a professor in the pharmacology department at Purdue University. I was fascinated by his research, and realized that was what I really wanted to do."

Brent Williams '93
Lucrative portfolios and a comfortable bank account might be the reason most people seek out a career in finance. But a few years after college, Brent Williams '93 saw the financial arena as an opportunity for powerful ministry.

While a student at Olivet, Brent was employed at a local bank that offered to transfer him to their Florida location following commencement. He accepted and after a few years of working in the bank and financial consulting business, Brent met Rob Taylor, former Tampa Bay Buccaneer football player.
