BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - Coming off a tough overtime loss last weekend to St. Xavier University (Ill.), the Olivet Nazarene University men's soccer team was eager to get back at it and get a win. On Wednesday, October 28th against Trinity Christian College (Ill.), the Tigers showed up and took care of the opposing Trolls, starting quick and finishing strong, winning 3-0.

The Trolls, who beat the Tigers in an upset last season, looked to do the same this year, but would fall short. Olivet would not allow such a defeat this season in moving their record 11-6 overall, and 6-3 in the CCAC, good for second in the CCAC. The Trolls drop to 7-11 overall and 3-7 in the CCAC.

While the field looked wet and muddy, the Tigers looked quick and fast. ONU took control in the first half at the 23 minute mark when sophomore forward Raphael Correa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) dribbled in through traffic and scored over the goalie's head for his eighth goal of the year. Senior Vincent Mkwwanazi (Soweto, South Africa) would get the assist as the Tigers went up 1-0. The rest of the first half the defenses would dominate on both ends. When the second half started so did the purple and gold offense as Josh Ayers (Colfax, Ill.) scored his 11th goal of the year off a cross from Raphael Correa. With the goal, the Tigers would stretch their lead to 2-0. Finishing off the scoring in the 88th minute freshman midfielder Logan Engelkes (Winnebago, Ill.) headed in his second goal of the year. Joel Kline (Wheaton, Ill.) would cross it in for the assist.

The Tigers' offense attack was all over the Trolls goal not allowing them to breathe as they out-shot the Trolls 20 to eight. ONU had five corner kicks to Trinity's four, and ONU and TCC had 12 and nine fouls, respectively in the game. There were four yellow cards handed out. Goalie Kenny Huber (Grand Blanc, Mich.) got his eighth win of the year. He would finish with four saves and get his seventh shutout of the year.

ONU will complete their regular season this weekend, Saturday, October 31st at home against conference foe Trinity International University (Ill.). Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. as the Tigers will try hold their spot in second place in the CCAC.

Before the game, ONU's five seniors will be honored and Saturday will also be the 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness game held by the Tigers.
