MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Olivet Nazarene University women's basketball team defeated Division II powerhouse Cardinal Stritch University on Tuesday with a final score of 95-79.


The Tigers started the game strong, taking an early lead with a 3-pointer by Holly Wiersema (Rockford, Ill.), but soon found the game tied 10-10 at the 15:18 mark. A 3-pointer just 23 seconds later by Courtnety Hehn (Monticello, Ind.) put the Tigers back in the lead, and they would never look back.


Going into the locker room, ONU led with a 55-45 halftime score, shooting 52.6 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from behind the arc.


The second half treated the Tigers just as well, as they dominated the glass, reeling in twice as many rebounds than the Wolves. ONU finished the game with 42 boards on the evening.


Poppy Miller (New Haven, Ind.) shined on the court, posting a team high 22 points, while Jaimie Buckman pulled down 10 rebounds. Hehn and Jealyn Foston (Cassopolis, Mich.) also posted double-digits in points, while senior guard Jade Stanlick (Edwardsville, Ill.) followed her stellar game of 13 assists versus Robert Morris with a season-high 13 points tonight.


The victory tonight puts the Tigers' season record at 13-7 (3-1). Their next contest is scheduled for Saturday afternoon versus conference foe St. Xavier University. The Cougars are 16-3 (2-0) thus far this season. Tip off will take place at 1 p.m.
