Three Tigers honored as 2009 Men's Basketball Daktronics NAIA All-American Scholar Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 2008-09 NAIA Division I & Division II Men’s Basketball Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes have been announced with 198 student-athletes recognized. Four school’s tied for the most awards with five: Dana (Neb.), Doane (Neb.), St. Francis (Ind.) and Westminster (Utah).

In order to be a recipient of the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete award, one must fulfill these requirements: the recipient must be a junior or above in academic standing; has been in attendance at the nominating institution a minimum of one full year of attendance; has a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of nomination at the nominating institution; has been certified as eligible.

Three ONU Tigers were awarded and honored; junior forward Tyler Wallenfang (Washington, Ill.), junior guard Dustin Rennewanz (Kankakee, Ill.), and junior center Tyler Baldwin (Manteno, Ill.).

Since all three honorees are juniors they will be available to be awarded again next as a two-time scholar athlete. This year's honorees join the 2006 class as the only two to have three awarded in a single year.
