Volleyball captures CCAC regular season title

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - The Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team captured the CCAC regular season conference title this evening as they walked over the University of St. Francis (Ill.) in just three games with final scores of 25-12, 25-22, 25-19.

The Tigers came out of the gates on fire after a senior night presentation to honor ONU's two seniors Stephanie Smith (Bourbonnais, Ill.) and Erin Sikora (Elgin, Ill.). In the first game, ONU attacked at a .414 mark compared to the Saints' .088. Olivet struggled briefly in the second game, but was able to capitalized on USF's mistakes enough to come out on top. The Tigers didn't leave any breathing room in the third set putting together 16 kills.

Sara Byrne (Downers Grove, Ill.) hit at a .400 clip with 12 kills, while Molly Goldbach (Redondo Beach, Calif.) had 8 kills with a .417 percentage. Deeann Garvin (Bloomington, Ind.) and Smith took care of the defense with a total of 25 digs between the two. Sikora registered 32 assists on the night.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 30-8, 10-0 on the season. With the number one seed in place, ONU will took to compete in the first round of the CCAC conference tournament on Friday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. in McHie Arena.
