Head Coach Todd Reid enters his third year at the helm as the Tigers hope to continue a tradition of excellence on the diamond. Reid finished his second season with a 29-20 (17-13) record and an appearance in the NCCAA World Series. With Olivet Nazarene's two appearances in the NAIA College World Series and an NCCAA National Championship, the standard is still set very high and Reid has no plans of falling short.
Reid is a graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene University where he played for head coach Keith Veale. During his time there, the Cougars won an NAIA District 22 Championship (1991) and competed in the NCCAA World Series (1993).
Reid spent one year as the pitching coach at Kenyon College before taking over as the head coach at Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) in Quincy, Massachusetts, in 1997.
While at ENC, the Crusaders established new records for wins in a season, with 28 in 2004, and consecutive 20 win seasons with three. ENC also finished atop of several statistical categories including two years with over 130 stolen bases (2004 and 2006). For their efforts, Reid was named Commonwealth Coast Conference coach of the year in 2004.
"My goals here at Olivet are no different than anywhere I've been," Reid said. "We want to provide an opportunity for young men to pursue a Christian education while playing baseball. Our objective is to help them develop both on and off the field. In the end, we'd like to produce 'great people' and not just good athletes."
Reid graduated from MVNU in 1993 with a double major in Sports Management and Sports Medicine. He completed his Master's degree from the United States Sports Academy in 1997. He teaches in the Department of Exercise and Sports Science at Olivet and lives near campus with his wife Wendy and daughters Maddux, Mia, and Montana.
