Paul Dillinger was among Olivet's first graduating class of nurses in 1971. During a career in the United States Army Nurse Corps, he completed assignments in a wide variety of nursing specialties. He worked as a staff and head nurse on several different mental health units, and after serving as a staff nurse, became the head nurse of a surgical unit. Paul served two large medical facilities as an evening and night nursing supervisor. He also completed assignments as an infection control nurse, a quality assurance nurse, and as an instructor in an Army LPN equivalent program. He has been at ONU since 1989 and has taught numerous courses. His specialty is mental health nursing.

Besides his B.S. in nursing, Dr. Dillinger completed an M.A. in psychology from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee in 1974, an M.S.N. in psychiatric mental health nursing from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1988, and a Psy.D. in clinical psychology from Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois in 2003. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and is a member of the Kappa Sigma Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society.

In 2006, Dr. Dillinger was chosen to receive the Richard M. Jones Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence.

Paul spent two months of volunteer service at Africa Nazarene University in Nairobi, Kenya and he and his wife serve the University in the capacity of a mentor couple.

In addition to playing tuba in the College Church orchestra, Paul is a committed husband, father of three, grandfather of six and a great-grandfather of three.
