Dr. Chenoweth serves eight departments as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, chairs the Honors Program, and teaches journalism students investigative reporting, feature writing, online journalism, editing and public relations. Before arriving at Olivet in 2003, he worked for secular and religious organizations in journalism, public relations, youth ministry and private school administration. He also taught at three very different types of institutions: Mott Community College, Northern Illinois University and Korea Nazarene University. His Ph.D. is from Wayne State University (Mich.).
As a journalist, Gregg's stories have appeared in five newspapers (e.g. the Detroit News), four magazines (e.g. Christianity Today) and two books (e.g. College Faith). Recently, he was one of only 50 invited to Oxford University's Centre for Religion and Public Life, convening in Istanbul, Turkey. His students have worked for MSNBC, the Chicago Reporter magazine and Barefoot Ministries, as examples.
As an ordained minister, he also preaches where needed, in all about 30 cities across the Midwest, Africa, South Korea and Australia, and currently teaches a Sunday school class for college-aged persons at Kankakee First Church of the Nazarene. He also served Work & Witness interests in six countries.
Gregg enjoys reading, writing, travel and sports. He has been married to Tammy (Salyer) Chenoweth, an ONU alumna. They have three children: Abbey, Allison and Aaron.
