Mark Bishop

Mark Bishop has been a full-time faculty member in the Department of Communication since 2001. He's the director of the television and video production, and film studies concentrations. The Department of Communication is the home to two digital TV studios with supporting equipment ranging from digital cameras to non-linear editing computers.

Besides teaching, Mark spends his weekends as an on-air meteorologist working for WLS-TV, the ABC-owned television station in Chicago. In fact, his television experience dates back to 1994 when he worked for the CBS affiliate in Rockford, Ill. as a producer, reporter, and weathercaster. In 1996 he moved to the ABC affiliate in Lincoln, Neb. and served as a reporter and weathercaster. While in Lincoln, Mark was awarded an Associated Press award for reporting. In 1998, he transferred to the FOX affiliate in Omaha, Neb. as morning weather anchor and then main weather anchor.

Mark also manages Olivet's television news magazine known as "Access ONU." Students produce, report, and anchor this one-of-a-kind show. Besides taking an in-depth look at campus headlines, "Access ONU" highlights the unique stories of Olivet's students, faculty, and staff. Students in the TV/video and film concentrations have also been known to land impressive internships. Some of the internships include Emmy award-winning Towers Productions of Chicago, the Chicago Bears media department, ABC TV Chicago, FOX Sports Net of St. Louis, and Comcast Sports Network

Mark is a 1993 graduate of Olivet Nazarene University. In 1999, he earned his broadcast weather certification through Mississippi State University. In 2004, he received a master's degree in communications and training at Governor's State University.
