Dr. Don Daake began at Olivet Nazarene University as a professor of business in 1995. He teaches strategic management, marketing research, advertising, MIS, global marketing, computer applications for business and entrepreneurship.
He holds a degree in history from Kansas State University, an MBA with a concentration in marketing from the University of Iowa and a Ph.D. in strategic management from Florida State University.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, in August 2001, Don was named as the first director of the Donald H. Weber Entrepreneurship and Leadership Center. In 2003, he spent seven weeks teaching in the International Business Institute and was in ten European countries.
He is not new to the field of education, having spent more than 15 years of his career developing, designing and marketing continuing education programs. He served six years as an assistant director of community education at Eastern Iowa Community College District where he was in charge of developing programs for a wide spectrum of organizations including banking, real estate, insurance and manufacturing. Under his leadership EICCD developed one of the largest continuing education computers training programming among community colleges in the United States.
From 1986-89 he was director of business and industry programming at Florida State University's Center for Professional Development where he worked with business, government, associations and non-profits to develop their training programs.
He has numerous publications in the areas of strategy, organizational theory and health care strategy including a summer 2000 Health Care Management Review article entitled "Understanding Stakeholder Power and Influence Gaps in a Health Care Organization: An Empirical Study" and a 2004 article in the Journal of Managerial Issues, "Formal Data Use in Strategic Planning: An Organizational Field Experiment." He also writes "Ask the Professor," a regular column in the local business magazine B2B.
He is vice-chairman of the Kankakee Chapter of SCORE, and has served on the board directors of the Kankakee River Valley Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Daake makes regular presentations to community groups including the Rotary, Kiwanis and Chamber of Commerce organizations. He has served on the national Christian Business Faculty Association Board and was chairman from 2001-02.
He has done consulting with a variety of clients in the areas of marketing research and strategic planning including: Winnebago Industries, the Florida Department of Education, Tallahassee Regional Medical Center, the Kankakee Symphony Orchestra, the Illinois Council of Orchestras, Rohm & Hass & Cognis, the Bourbonnais Park District and the Bourbonnais Elementary School District 53.
