Dr. Armstrong received the Bachelor of Arts degree in biblical literature from Malone College (Ohio) in 1973.
He completed the Master of Education degree at Ashland University (Ohio), with a major in sports science, in 1985.
In 1992 Dr. Armstrong received his Ph.D. in higher education administration, with a minor in sports administration, from Kent State University (Ohio).
Dr. Armstrong serves as chairman of the Department of Exercise and Sports Science and associate athletic director.
He has more than 30 years of experience in higher education, having previously served at Malone College, Northwest Nazarene University (Idaho), and Baldwin-Wallace College (Ohio).
His past duties have included: professor, department chair, head women’s cross country and track coach, athletic director, and sports information director.
Currently, Dr. Armstrong teaches kinesiology, secondary school physical education methods and wellness.
While he no longer coaches, Armstrong is an avid track and field fan and will show off his 'famous' T/F autograph collection to anyone who is even slightly interested, and he also enjoys volunteering at college meets. A former long and triple jumper, Armstrong was inducted into the Malone College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991.
Armstrong’s wife, Dr. Susan Armstrong, serves as Worship Pastor at the Manteno Church of the Nazarene. They reside in Bourbonnais. They have one son, Brendon, who lives with his wife, Aleah, in Columbus, Ohio.
