Dr. Belcher has been teaching at Olivet Nazarene University since 1997. After receiving her doctorate, she was promoted to full professor in the Department of English and Modern Languages, where she teaches a variety of literature courses, including those in her chosen field of American literature, as well as upper division courses such as literary criticism and the novel.

During the academic year 2005-2006, having been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant, Dr. Belcher taught American literature at the University of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, Africa. She continues to be active in promoting good will through the Fulbright program, both by creating connections between University of Ouagadougou and Olivet Nazarene University and by speaking for various organizations and churches about both academic and religious life in Burkina Faso.

Having had a first career as a high school English teacher, Dr. Belcher is actively involved in English education through her membership in several professional organizations and by her teaching and mentoring two cohorts of master’s level English education students at ONU.
