Carl Fletcher joined the Department of Communication in 2007.

He's the director of broadcasting, and an assistant professor with an expertise in radio programming and production.

Professor Fletcher works in conjunction with the ONU owned and operated Shine.fm, one of the top-rated Christian radio stations in the country. The radio program at ONU has an esteemed list of alumni coast to coast and overseas working in radio.

Besides teaching, Carl remains the evening on-air radio personality on HOME.fm, WSAE-FM, in south central Michigan.

Carl was the general manager of the Michigan station, and hosted mornings on HOME.fm from 2005-2007.

Carl is also a regular weekend host and weekday fill-in on Shine.fm , WONU. From 1993-98, Carl served at Olivet as Operations Manager of WONU, and saw the station grow exponentially during that period. Other radio stations Carl has worked at as an air personality include, WCSJ-AM, WCFL-FM, WHPO, and Smile.fm.

Carl also gives oversight to Olivet's student radio station ShineRock.fm. Students produce, and host music shows and sports programming. Carl would like to see the great history of successful alumni continue to graduate into the industry and make a difference in their work.

This can happen because of the difference with ONU’s radio training program which gives students an outlet, and opportunity to be trained on the job, rather than just in the lab.

Carl is a 1992 graduate of Olivet Nazarene University. In 1999, he earned his graduate degree at Olivet Nazarene University.
