Larry Ferren is a full-time physical sciences faculty member at Olivet Nazarene University. He earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry at the University of Missouri and has done postdoctoral studies at the University of Iowa. His special interests include metallenzymes, proteolytic enzymes, mechanisms of enzyme catalysis, nuclear chemistry and radiation safety. He has published works dealing with the proteolytic enzymes found in the lungs. His recent sabbatical was spent studying biochemistry at the University of Illinois.
Dr. Ferren is a member of the Joliet section of the American Chemical Society and has held an office in that organization. He has also held offices in the Associated Colleges of the Chicago Area. He presently serves as the secretary-treasurer for Midwest Association of Chemistry Teachers of Liberal Arts Colleges. In this position he publishes the minutes of the annual meeting of the organization and maintains the records of the membership of the chemistry teachers of nearly 130 colleges and universities that comprise that group. He has held offices in MACTLAC since 1989.
